#3 issue: Remote work, non-bullshit career guide and intangible assets
Hey there đ
Welcome to the third issue of my experiment in writing a newsletter, in which I share the cool links I came across this week.
If youâre enjoying the newsletter, share it with a friend. If this was forwarded to you, check out some previous issues and subscribe for future updates.
Articles Iâve loved
Mathematics of when remote work fails (10 min)
Interesting breakdown of the situations and occasions where remote work still does not level with co-located work. It states that serendipity (new favourite word!) requires âcollisionsâ, or chance encounters that spark innovation.
How to reach $1 million in annual compensation as an employee (49 min)
Although the clickbait title & the length, still found some golden nuggets in this non-bullshit career guide by Edward Nevraumont. Especially enjoyed his bits about breadth not depth, personal (co)branding and the reference to the Invest Like The Best episode with Charlie Songhurst (former head of strategy Microsoft)
Intangible assets: The Invisible Value Driver (10 min)
Adam Keesling starts with 4 current problems with financial information and the cause of them: intangible assets (brand, human capital, knowledge, âŠ).
We have shifted from an industrial economy to an information economy, yet the investments in information assets arenât recognized in financial statements. They are expensed instead of capitalized.
Combine this article with the following fact: the percentage of intangible assets of the S&P 500 grew from 16% in 1975 to 84% in 2020.
Tweet of the week
Book Iâve read
My Lovely Wife(âââââ)
A real page-turner. Recommend this one if youâre into thrillers!
Thanks for reading this week! Which article did you like the most? Let me know!
Until next time,
