#12: Jeff Bezos, Mistrust & Tough Love
Hey there đ
Hope youâre all doing well. Welcome to the twelfth issue of my newsletter, in which I share the cool links I came across.
Articles Iâve loved
The High Price of Mistrust - Farnam Street (10 min read)
This article describes the ingredients of trust: repeatedly interacting with the same people, knowing that others will warn us about their bad behavior & feeling secure in the knowledge weâll be helped when and if we need it. If you donât have this trust, it can become expensive.
Couple this with the Trust Battery at Shopify: when youâre hired there you start at 50% & based on your actions it either charges or discharges.
The razor's edge of diminishing returns - Radreads (2 min read)
For some activities, you have an inflection point of effort: itâs not because you put 2x effort into something, that youâll get there 2x faster. (e.g. cycling to work)
The Relentless Jeff Bezos - Stratechery (12 min read)
Jeff Bezos is departing as CEO from Amazon. Ben Thompson has written (again) an excellent article about his time as CEO!
If youâre interested in Bezosâ frameworks (e.g. one-way door decisions & two-way door decisions), youâll like this thread:

Podcasts Iâve Loved
Carlos Brito, (departing) CEO AB InBev, details building business & culture. He explains the power of feedback - which made me think about the âTough Love Matrixâ (source):
Books Iâve read
50 lessen voor ondernemers (ââââ)
For the Dutch-speaking readers: enjoyed this book from JĂŒrgen Ingels with 50 short stories about entrepreneurship. Itâs an addictive book which youâll finish in no time!
Thanks for your most valuable resources, your time and attention! Which article did you like the most? Let me know!
Until next time,
